#15 Tigers Travel to #3 Stanford, #17 Santa Clara, Host #14 San Jose State

STOCKTON, Calif. – The #15 Pacific men's water polo team (11-8, 0-1) will face three ranked opponents this week as the team travels to the Bay Area to face #3 Stanford (13-5) and #17 Santa Clara (10-11) before returning home to welcome #14 San Jose State (7-8).

Last week, the Tigers earned a 2-2 record with come-from-behind wins over #17 Fordham and Bucknell. Fifth-year senior Rene Peralta put up a career-high six assists and eight points in the overtime effort against #18 Harvard on the final day of the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, hosted by Santa Clara and San Jose State.

This week, the Tigers take on a pair of road tests, including their first-ever WCC road game in program history against the Broncos. In the penultimate home game of the year, Pacific hosts San Jose State in a Halloween-themed event.

Pacific travels to face one of the top teams in the country in Stanford, who enters the competition on a three-game winning streak. The Cardinal won both games last year against Pacific, which featured a neutral game at the 2022 MPSF Tournament.

Pacific has won the last 15 meetings with the Broncos, going back to Oct. 15, 2005. This matchup marks the first time since 2016 the two programs have met where the Tigers won 15-3 at the Aggie Roundup.

Facing San Jose State for the third year in a row, Pacific enters having won the last 12 contests in the series. The Tigers defeated the Spartans twice last year, including the most recent matchup on the road by a score of 15-10 in San Jose, Calif. The last time the two teams played in Stockton, the Tigers pulled out a 12-8 victory on Oct. 9, 2021.

Peralta paces Pacific's offense with a team-high 27 assists and 65 points through 19 games. Junior Gil Gvishi looks to extend his season-long point streak. He leads the team with 44 goals on a team-best 118 shots.

In goal, senior Lewis Gale has started the most games for the Tigers, holding a 9-4 record with 96 saves and 20 steals. Freshman Benjamin Gronbach and freshman John Winters also have earned playing time in between the posts recently as both played important minutes last week during the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament.
