STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team is home for the first time this season as they host Sacramento State on Sunday evening.
"Once the season kicks off, the matches come quickly which is ideal when you feel like you did more then enough to win the previous match," said Co-Head Coaches
Danesha Adams and
J.J. Wozniak. "As good as we thought our performance was on Thursday night, there is always room for improvement and our players have been focused on that in our preparation for for Sacramento State. We can not wait to get out on Knoles for our home opener!"
Laila Saravia and
Anaya Shelton both scored for the Tigers in the opening match against Long Beach State, a 2-2 draw. 2021 WCC Goalkeeper of the Year
Brenna Crump had eight saves in net and the Tigers had twice as many corner kicks as the Beach, showing the potential of a young Tigers offense.
The Hornets started the season against #21 Stanford and junior goalkeeper Mia Shalit had 15 saves in the 5-0 loss. Sacramento State went 5-12-2 last season and were picked to finish sixth in the Big Sky Preseason Poll.
The Tigers are 5-1-1 against Sacramento State at home and has recorded a win or a tie in five of the past six matchups.
There will be a poster giveaway for fans before the start of the game. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
