STOCKTON, Calif. – The #16 Pacific Women's Water Polo team (11-10, 5-1) hosts its final conference game of the season on Friday, April 15, against Santa Clara (7-18, 2-4).
The Tigers are 15-7 against the Broncos, including a commanding 16-7 win in March 2021. Pacific has won 11 of the last 12 contests with Santa Clara, including the last eight straight.
After Pacific's last two league wins, the team has secured the No. 2 seed in the GCC standings.
Multiple Tigers had strong showings last week, but Senior Brianna Utas led the team, scoring two goals against Concordia-Irvine and four against #20 San Diego State. She had six steals against San Diego State and two against Concordia-Irvine. On the season, Utas has 20 goals, two goals short of her best season in her four-year career. She has 72 career tallies.
Graduate student Mariana Duarte is tied for fourth in the GCC for goals with 52. Utas is tied for third for steals with 30. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Clara Vulpisi leads the league in saves with 191 and save percentage with 53.8 percent.
Friday's game serves as Senior Day for the Tigers honoring Toula Falvey, Mariana Duarte, Emma Myall, MerryDannelle Wilson, Ana Martinez do Amaral and Erin Kaprelian. The match also hosts University Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.
At Friday's game, faculty, staff and students from the Eberhardt School of Business will be recognized, and staff representing University Development & Alumni Relations will be recognized.
After Friday's match, the Tigers will head to California Baptist April 22-24 for the GCC Conference Championships.
