STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team, playing in its final non-conference weekend series, faces off against Northern Colorado on Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3, for a three-game series at Bill Simoni Field.
The Tigers are entering the weekend with an 8-22 record and coming off a midweek game against UC Davis where the long ball highlighted the contest. Reagan Hamilton and Rian Dirmeyer accounted for all three of the Tigers' RBI as the duo each hit home runs to keep the Tigers in the game.
Through 30 games this season, Hamilton and Dirmeyer are responsible for nine of the 13 recorded home runs. Hamilton, who tallied a two-run home run against the Aggies, has totaled four home runs and reached 20 RBI for the first time in her career. Dirmeyer leads the team in home runs with five after tallying a solo home run in the sixth inning to tie the game at three. Dirmeyer is second on the team with a .341 batting average and has accumulated a .571 slugging percentage, ranking first on the team.
Northern Colorado, which has not competed since March 26, enters the weekend with a 12-16 and sits atop the Big Sky Conference with a perfect 3-0 record. The Bears are led by Kaileigh Holland and Jaycie Gandert, batting over .300. Holland leads the team with a .341 batting average, tallying 26 hits in 82 at-bats, while Gandert leads the team with a .473 on-base percentage as the freshman from Rio Rancho, N.M., has totaled 24 hits and drawn 14 walks.
Since the 2013 season, the Tigers have collected two convincing wins against the Bears, taking both games in a doubleheader on February 16, 2013, during the Miken Classic in Waco, Texas, outscoring the Bears 18-4. The Bears have taken the last two contests, earning a 5-2 victory on February 23, 2018, followed by a narrow 9-8 win over the Tigers the next day.
