Amar Reaches Semifinals; Das Reach Quarterfinals at ITA Super Regional

STANFORD, Calif. – The Pacific men's tennis team was one of three teams to have two players reach the quarterfinals at the ITA Super Regional along with Oregon and California. This was the the first time the Tigers have reached the Super Regional event under Head Coach Robin Goodman

Junior Ran Amar continued his hot streak from the Northwest Regional tournament, reaching seven straight wins between the two events. Amar won three consecutive matches in the Super Regional before falling in the semifinals.

Sophomore Terence Das did not compete in the Northwest Regional as he had previously qualified for the Super Regional based on his play earlier in the fall. Das won his first two matchups handily, reaching the quarterfinals.

"This tournament was a major success for our program," said Goodman. "We are, without a doubt, moving in the right direction. I am proud of Ran and Terence and how they competed at this event."

Das started his tournament with a (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) win over Stanford's Filip Kolasinski to advance to the round of 16. In the round of 16, Das faced a WCC opponent, Arthur Neuhaus, from Santa Clara. Das quickly moved into the quarterfinals with a (6-3, 6-1) win. Das was unable to make the next round, as the top seed in the tournament, Nishesh Basavareddy from Stanford defeated Das (6-2, 6-4).

Amar stayed in rhythm after his Northwest Regional win. Amar defeated Alex Chang from Cal (6-4, 6-1). Amar advanced into the quarterfinals after his opponent withdrew due to injury in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, Amar defeated Portland's Sema Pankin (6-2, 3-6, 6-1) to advance to the semifinals. His fantastic run would end in the semifinals, falling to Cal's Ryder Jackson (6-1, 6-2).

"To have Terence reach the quarterfinals in his first year and Ran, the semifinals, is a great achievement," continued Goodman. "We will continue to work hard in practice and improve as we look ahead to our home tournament on November 4th."

The Tigers are at home for the first time this fall for their final event of the fall season. The Pacific Invitational will take place from November 4-6
