THINGS TO KNOW:
  • Recording their first win since Mar. 17 last week, Pacific took down Fresno State, 14-10, on the road to secure the season series over the Bulldogs, 2-1. Unfortunately, the Tigers were then swept in three nonconference games at UNLV last weekend after COVID-19 protocols postponed their home series against Pepperdine.
  • Coming into Wednesday, junior James Arakawa currently ranks third in the WCC in batting average (.354) and tenth in on-base percentage (.426). On the basepaths, senior Wyatt Hoffman is tied for seventh with six steals on the year.
  • Looking ahead, Pacific will return home to Stockton this upcoming weekend as they recently added a three-game series against Long Beach State. Overall, it will mark their first action in Stockton since a three-game series against Portland from Mar. 19-21 as well as their first non-conference home series since a three-game set against Saint Mary's from Mar. 12-13.

SCOUTING THE CARDINAL:
  • Entering the polls this week, Stanford currently ranks No. 15 according to Collegiate Baseball, No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, No. 20 according to D1Baseball and No. 22 according to Baseball America.
  • Playing in their fifth straight game at home against the Tigers on Wednesday, the Cardinal went 3-1 against Pac-12 opponents last week, taking down Cal in a midweek contest before defeating No. 17 UCLA in two of the first three games of their weekend series.
  • As a team, Stanford has impressed at the plate through 25 games in 2021, as the Cardinal has batted .288 with 175 runs scored on 247 hits, including 47 doubles, one triple and 39 home runs. Leading the Pac-12 and ranking eighth nationally in long balls, Stanford averages 7.00 runs per game this season as they have scored 10-plus runs in eight of the 25 games, and six-plus in 15 of the 25 contests. Overall, they are 17-1 when hitting at least one home run this year.
