SPOKANE, Wash. – Continuing their road trip after a three-game series in San Diego last weekend, the Pacific baseball team (7-14, 0-6) looks to get their first conference victory of the season when they head north to Spokane this upcoming weekend for a showdown with the Gonzaga Bulldogs (13-10, 4-2).

THINGS TO KNOW:
- Leading the charge offensively, junior James Arakawa currently paces the Tigers in batting average (.418), OPS (.972) and hits (28), recording at least two hits in eight different games including a 13-game hitting streak, while classmate Jeremy Lea has a team-best three home runs and nine RBI through 21 games. Overall, Arakawa's average is good for second in the WCC while also sitting sixth in OPS and twelfth in total hits.
- As a team, Pacific has showed promise with their gloves, ranking tied for third with Saint Mary's with a .975 overall fielding percentage. Additionally, the Tigers lead the conference in double plays turned (18), runners caught stealing (15) and runners caught stealing percentage (.357) while also allowing only three total passed balls on the year.
- Hungry to get back in the win column, Pacific is aiming for to notch their first victory since a nail-biting 3-2 victory over Fresno State on Mar. 17 in Stockton. Heading into the weekend, Gonzaga currently holds the all-time series lead with a 27-8 advantage, including a 16-4 mark against the Tigers since UOP rejoined the WCC in 2013. In their last meeting out, the Bulldogs shutout Pacific 3-0 in Spokane on Apr. 7, 2019.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
- Sitting in second in the conference standings coming into Friday's matchup, Gonzaga had their season-best five-game win streak snapped last week with two losses at Loyola Marymount, but bounced back in the series finale with a 14-2 lopsided victory that saw nine different Bulldogs record at least one hit.
- As a staff, Gonzaga currently ranks 40th in Division I in strikeouts per game with 10.2 K's per contest, including striking out 29 total batters last weekend against LMU.
- Individually, infielder Brett Harris has proven to be dominant no matter the opponent, ranking in the top ten in the WCC in the following categories heading into the weekend: games played (23, tied for first), OBP (.504, first), runs scored (26, second), total hits (33, tied for second), doubles (4, tied for fourth), batting average (.371, sixth), RBI (21), at-bats (89, tied for ninth), walks (13, tied for tenth)
