Defensively, the Tigers are tied with Gonzaga for the least amount of errors (14) while also leading the conference in runners caught stealing (13) and runners caught stealing percentage (.361). Additionally, they also rank second in the conference in putouts (474) and fielding percentage (.979) and fourth in total double plays (12).
  • Remaining hot to begin the season, junior James Arakawa still ranks amongst the best hitters in the conference as the infielder is second in the WCC in batting average. (.400), eighth in on-base percentage (.457) and tenth in total hits (24).

SCOUTING THE TOREROS:
  • San Diego took two out of three games from Saint Mary's on their road trip to Moraga last weekend as USD has now won 13 of its last 15 games, a span that includes four series victories in a row (Cal State Fullerton, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Saint Mary's).
  • San Diego's 157 total runs scored through Thursday leads the conference by a 22-run margin, as the Torero offense currently sits atop the charts in several categories within the WCC: hits (192, first), doubles (51, first), RBI (139, first), batting average (.320, first), on-base percentage (.412, first) and slugging percentage (.500, first). Additionally, USD's 51 doubles are also good for first in NCAA Division I.
  • On Monday, the Toreros received a national ranking for the first time in 2021, checking in at No. 21 in the newest Collegiate Baseball national poll. With this ranking, USD has now extended their streak to 15 years of being ranked in the national poll by at least one national collegiate baseball publication.
  • USD is 17-7 against the Tigers all-time, with the most recent meeting coming on May 12, 2019, a 4-2 home win for the Toreros in San Diego. Aiming to turn the tides, Pacific's last win over USD came a day earlier on May 11, 2019 in a 16-7 victory on the road. Overall, USD has gone 7-3 in their last 10 matchups with Pacific and is also 5-1 at Fowler Park against the Tigers in that span.
