Tigers host third matchup of season against Nevada on Thursday

STOCKTON, Calif. - For the third time during the 2021 season, the University of the Pacific Softball team hosts Nevada at Bill Simoni Field on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers will look to avenge a pair of losses to the Wolfpack during the Libby Matson Tournament.

THINGS TO KNOW
  • Pacific comes off a week in which it went 1-1-1. The Tigers lost 2-0 California on March 17. The following day, Pacific defeated California Baptist, 3-2, then tied the Lancers 4-4 in a game that was halted due to rain. 
  • In the doubleheader against CBU, Madison Kahwaty reached base safely in all six plate appearances, had three hits, two RBIs and scored a pair of runs. 
  • Batting .300 on the season is Madeline Domingo after going 4-for-6 in last Thursday's doubleheader. 
  • Valeria Torres-Colon went 4-for-9 last week and stole two bases. 
  • A 2.35 ERA from Vanessa Strong is the team-best for Pacific going into Thursday's contest. 
  • The Tigers dropped both previous matchups to Nevada earlier this season. On February 26, Nevada shut out the Pacific, 4-0. The following day during the Libby Matson Tournament, the Wolfpack won 8-4 in eight innings in the tournament finale. 

SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
  • Nevada comes into Thursday's game winning two straight games against San Diego State. 
  • Lauren Gutierrez leads the Wolfpack in multiple offensive categories, including batting average (.407), hits (24), home runs (3), RBIs (22), total bases (39) and slugging percentage (.661). 
  • Sadaria McAlister has a team-high 12 stolen bases. 
  • With a team-high 3.22 ERA in 54.1 innings pitched is Blake Craft. On February 26, she pitched a seven inning shutout against Pacific.
