Box Score SAN JOSE, Calif. – The University of the Pacific Softball team improved to 6-7 on Wednesday by defeating San Jose State, 5-1. The Tigers picked up their second straight win.
GAME SUMMARY
Carly Lucchetti led off the game by reaching base on an error, then advanced on a groundout, then a flyout.
Reagan Hamilton drew a walk, but ball four got past the catcher, allowing Lucchetti to score the first run of the game.
In the top of the second inning,
Madeline Domingo hit a leadoff double to center field. After advancing to third base on a sacrifice from
Jessica Mabrey,
Hanna Krosky hit her own double to drive in Domingo for a 2-0 lead.
Following Krosky's double,
Valeria Torres-Colon hit a chopper infield single to drive in Krosky, as Pacific led 3-0.
The Spartans got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when Jocylyn Vidal doubled to center field, driving in Ashley Rico.
Rian Dirmeyer led off the top of the third inning by reaching on an error, and would advance two bases on a wild pitch. With two outs following the error,
Marissa Fabian hit an RBI double, driving in Dirmeyer, then Domingo got her second hit of the day which was an RBI single to drive in Fabian. Pacific led 5-1.
For the final five defensive innings for the Tigers, only one hit was allowed and two base runners total as the combined pitching of
Avery Croxall and
Amiyah Aponte shut down the offense of the Spartans, as Pacific cruised to a 5-1 win.
Croxall, in her first career start with the Tigers, picked up the win to improve to 1-1 on the season. Aponte picked up the save.

- Croxall allowed only one run in 4.0 innings in the circle and struck out two batters faced.
- In relief, Aponte pitched 3.0 innings allowing only one hit and struck out two.
- Domingo, Krosky and Torres-Colon each had two hits and an RBI each.
