Box Score 2 FRESNO, Calif. – After being swept in the season opening doubleheader against Fresno State on Friday, the University of the Pacific Softball team swept a pair of games against UC Santa Barbara in the Fresno State Kickoff Classic, both 6-5.
GAME ONE SUMMARY
After falling behind 2-0, the Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the fourth.
Carly Lucchetti led off with a walk, then stole second base. After reaching third base on a third strike to the next batter,
Madeline Domingo hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Lucchetti.
UCSB got three more runs in the top of the fifth inning. During the inning, Ally Nodohara hit an RBI single, Rayna Cohen scored as Sam Denehy reached on an error and Pola hit an RBI single, as UCSB led 5-1.
Trailing 5-1, the Tigers offense responded in the bottom of the fifth. After a leadoff double by

Myka Sutherlin hit a home run, as Pacific trailed 5-3.
Lucchetti drove in the third run of the inning for Pacific on a fielder's choice, driving in
Madison Kahwaty.
Following the fielder's choice,
Rian Dirmeyer doubled down the left field line, driving in
Jessica Mabrey to even the game at 5-5. With Dirmeyer at second base, Domingo hit a double of her own, with Dirmeyer scoring the go-ahead run, as the Tigers led 6-5.
In the top of the sixth,
Bethany Hammer entered the game, allowed one hit and a walk in the final two innings, and struck out five batters, including all three in the top of the seventh to close out the game, as Pacific won game one, 6-5.
GAME TWO SUMMARY
After Mabrey led off the second inning by drawing a walk, Dirmeyer tripled, as the Tigers went ahead 1-0.
Following Dirmeyer's triple, she scored when Domingo hit an RBI single.
Brianna Rodriguez entered the game as a pinch runner after Domingo's single. Rodriguez stole second base, then advanced to third on a double by Lucchetti.
With two runners in scoring position,
Hanna Krosky bunted into a fielder's choice, as Rodriguez scored the Tigers' third run and Lucchetti reached third base.
Then, Lucchetti scored on a wild pitch. Pacific led 4-0.
Dirmeyer hit another RBI triple in the top of the third, as
Madison Kahwaty scored, as Pacific led 5-0 in the third inning.
The Gauchos got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, as Madelyn McNally scored following a throwing error in which Rayna Cohen reached base.
The Tigers bult their lead to 6-1 in the top of the fifth as Mabrey hit an RBI double, driving in Kahwaty.
UCSB put two runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Lauren Lewis scored from third base after an error in left field, and Tyler Goldstein scored after an RBI double by Sammy Fabian.
Korie Thomas hit an RBI single driving in Ashley Donaldson. Pacific led 6-4 through six innings.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Nodohara singled and Cohen doubled, as the tying run was in scoring position.
Hammer entered the game with two runners on base. Ashley Donaldson drew a walk to load the bases.
Denehy hit into a fielder's choice. While Cohen was put out at third, Nodohara scored, as the lead was down to 6-5.
With the tying run on third base, Hammer finished the game with a closing strikeout, as Pacific took game two, 6-5 to complete a sweep of the Gauchos.
NOTABLE STATS
- Dirmeyer finished Saturday going 3-for-6 with a double and two triples. She had three RBIs.
- Lucchetti went 3-for-5 on Saturday.
- Domingo had three RBIs in the doubleheader.
- In 2.2 total innings pitched on Saturday, Hammer had six strikeouts, picking up a pair of saves.
- Myka Sutherlin was the winning pitcher in game one and Hanna Krosky received credit for a win in game two.
