STOCKTON, Calif. - The 2021 season is set to begin Friday for the University of the Pacific Softball team, who will play in the Fresno State Kickoff Classic. The Tigers play a doubleheader on Friday against Fresno State, and another pair on Saturday against UC Santa Barbara. It will be the 29th season for Pacific under the direction of head coach
Brian Kolze.

THINGS TO KNOW
- Infielder/pitcher Hanna Krosky, utility/catcher Jessica Mabrey and pitcher Myka Sutherlin were named to the 2021 All-WCC Preseason Softball Team.
- Krosky returns to the Tigers in 2021 after playing her first season with the program in 2020. She had a .413 batting average in 20 starts, which was third in the WCC. She led Pacific in hits last season with 26 and had a team-high nine multi-hit games. Not only did Krosky have an impact with the bat, she also had a 1.70 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched in 2020. Defensively, Krosky had a 1.000 fielding percentage on 37 chances, with two double plays.
- Mabrey is coming off a 2020 season in which she started 17 games, hitting .360 with 18 hits, 11 RBIs and three home runs. Academically, Mabrey was named to the 2020 WCC Softball All-Academic Honorable Mention team.
- In 2020, Sutherlin threw for 53.1 innings with a 1.97 ERA.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Fresno State enters the tournament after going 0-3 in the UCLA tournament last week, including a 7-0 loss to top-ranked UCLA.
- With a .300 batting average to start the season is Kaitlyn Jennings with 10 at-bats.
- Kelsey Carrasco has the only home run this season for the Bulldogs.
- In the circle, Danielle Lung has thrown 8.0 innings with a 2.63 ERA
SCOUTING THE GAUCHOS
- Saturday's doubleheader will be the first pair of games for the Gauchos in 2021.
- Senior outfielder Sammy Fabian returns to the lineup after a 2020 season in which she hit .374 with five extra-base hits and eight RBIs.
- Alyssa Molina returns to the circle, after a 2020 season in which she had a 2.63 ERA in 56.2 innings with 39 strikeouts.
