Tigers Drop Games Against SFU and UConn

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The women's softball team finished day one of the OSU Hall of Fame Classic with losses to Saint Francis and UConn.

The Tigers lost 10-1 to the Red Flash and 9-0 in their doubleheader to the Huskies. Pacific drops to 8-12 overall. Saint Francis moves to 12-11 and UConn improves to 7-11 following Friday's games.

Pacific vs. Saint Francis University

The Tigers had their share of troubles early on in their game against Saint Francis. The Red Flash took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Hailey Reed loaded the bases and gave up three hits and three walks in the inning. Reed pitched 2.2 innings and struck out two batters.

Megan Walters and Kenya Lindstrom took over for Reed in the second inning and  finished the game each pitching 1.0 inning of work.

The Orange and Black had an opportunity in the second as Sydney Lahners led off with a single. Madison Hopper then reached base off a hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. The Tigers were unable to get runs in, however, as two straight groundouts by Molly Bourne and Ralene Estrada ended the inning.

Lahners gave Pacific it's only run in the fourth inning with a home run to left center for her seventh of the season. The senior first baseman leads the team with 20 RBI and 11 extra-base hits.

The Red Flash countered in the bottom half, however, earning three runs off one hit off of Kenya Lindstrom

Pacific vs. UConn

The Tigers' offensieve woes continued in their doubleheader against UConn. The Huskies scored one run in the first three innings to give them a 3-0 lead.

Pacific failed to register a hit until the bottom of the third inning off a Molly Bourne single to center field. Bourne was stranded on base, however, as Megan Fields grounded out and Talli Shepherd struck out to end the inning.

Bethany Hammer pitched 5.0 innings for Pacific. The Placerville, Calif. native finished with 10 hits, nine earned runs, and seven strikeouts.

The Orange and Black continue day two of the OSU Classic with a 9:00 AM game against Purdue followed by a 2:00 PM game against Drake. For the latest on the Pacific Softball program, be sure to follow @PacificSoftball on Twitter and Instagram.
