SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara posted a 7-2 win over Pacific baseball team in game two of the West Conference series Saturday. James Free II went 2-4 and brought in his team leading 45th run of the season, while Preston Moebius and Blake Barry also recorded two hits each.

The Tigers attacked first as Kevin Sandri started off the game with a leadoff walk followed by a James Free II double to deep left center field to score Sandri and give Pacific a 1-0 lead.

In the second, Santa Clara got on the board after a pair of singles then a double down the left field line from Lucas Eliason scoring Austin Fisher and Matt Smithwick.  With Eliason standing on second, John Cresto singled up the middle to extend the Bronco lead, 3-1 as Eliason crossed the plate.

The Black and Orange answered in the fifth when Moebius singled then advanced to second base after a wild pitch from Jacob Steffens.  Sandri stepped up to the plate and smacked a double to right center and plated Moebius to get one run back for the Tigers.  

In the sixth, Santa Clara rallied a string of singles to bring in another run to make it 4-2 in favor of the Broncos.  

Cooper Casad departed the game in the sixth to make way for Jordon Gonzalez.

The Broncos tacked on more runs in the seventh after Austin Fisher brought in two runs to stretch their lead to 6-2.

Steffens tossed a complete game allowing two earned runs on eight hits and improves to 4-6 on the season for Santa Clara.  

Casad (2-4) took the loss and went five and two thirds innings, allowing four earned runs on twelve hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Gonzalez allowed two earned runs while punching out two before making way to Bailey Hansen who pitched one inning giving up an earned run on two hits and striking out three Broncos.  

The Tigers fall to 16-32 overall and 4-19 in the West Coast Conference, while Santa Clara improves to 13-35 overall and 9-14 in the WCC.

Game three of the series will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Schott Stadium.
