Waves Too Strong As Tigers Handed Loss

STOCKTON, Calif. - Pacific fell to #14 Pepperdine on Saturday afternoon, handing the Tigers their third-straight loss. The defeat puts the Tigers at 5-6 overall while the win brings the Waves to 8-4 on the season. 

"It was no surprise to see the level we were up against today playing the #14 team in the country," said head coach Tina Samara. "Their top two players are #6 and #13 in the nation and today they showed us why. It was a good learning experience for this young team, and hopefully we can bounce back."

Pepperdine took the doubles point behind wins at the one and two spots to go up 1-0.In singles, Maayan Sela fell to Luisa Stefani, who is the ITA National Rookie of the Year and ranked sixth in the nation, 6-1, 6-1 at the one spot. Anneroos Nederstigt  dropped her match 6-0, 6-2 at the second spot. Anna Ramos Vinolas was in control the first set up 4-2 and 40-15 in the seventh game of the match but her contest went unfinished at three against the #28-ranked Mayar Sherif. Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz fell to #79 Laura Gulbe 6-1, 6-3 to secure the win for the Waves. Sabrina Rodriguez's match at six went unfinished with the match already decided. 

Conference play continues for the Tigers as they travel to Santa Clara on the 31st before battling San Francisco on April 1st.
