San Francisco, Calif. - Pacific's Yuki Asami & Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz battled deep into the doubles semifinals at the Battle In The Bay Classic at California Tennis Club Saturday, but fell in a tiebreaker.

Shanna Dos Santos & Anna Sokiran of host San Francisco managed to outlast the Tigers' duo, 8-7 (3) for a spot in the finals. The USF tandem will take on the top-seeded pair of Paris Corley and Lauren Marker of Arizona.

"It was nice to finally get out and see some of our players compete," Tina Samara said of the first weekend of play as head coach of the Tigers. "We did some really good things and we saw some things that need to get better. In today's doubles match, Cris and Yuki showed great fight and put themselves just one point away from the finals. There is so much room for growth and improvement with this young team and we look forward to the challenges ahead."

The Tigers will be back in action next weekend at the Cal Nike Invitational in Berkeley.
