SAN FRANCISCO - The Pacific women's tennis team opened fall play at the Battle of the Bay Classic in San Francisco Thursday.

In singles first round action, Yuki Asami fell to Lauren Marker of Arizona, 7-5, 6-1, while USF's Joselyn Treyes Albarracin topped Maayan Sela 6-2, 7-6 (5).

Marie Van Aelst of Arizona knocked off Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz, 6-3, 6-0, and Emily Maxfield of USF got past Anneroos Nederstigt, 6-1, 6-2

The Tigers will move to the consolation side of the singles bracket.

Women's Doubles hit the court Friday at 9:45 a.m., with Nederstigt/Sala facing off against McCloskey/Treyes Albarracin of USF and Asami/Saenz de Buruaga taking on Chypyha/Van Aelst of Arizona.
