Women's Soccer Adds Hedda Bjerklund For 2016

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Women's Soccer team has added Hedda Bjerklund of Norway to the squad for the 2016-17 season, head coach Kerri Scroope announced today.  Bjerklund is the first official signee for Scroope, who was hired in late February to run the Tigers program.  Bjerklund will become the second international player on Pacific's roster.

Hedda Smedheim Bjerklund is from Fjerdingby, Norway and is graduating from Rælingen vidregående skole in June. She played her second season for Grei Kvinner Elite in first division this year in Norway. Previous she played for LSK Kvinner (2014) where she helped her team earn 3rd place in division two and win a silver in the under-19 Dana Cup. In 2013 she played in Borgen IL and helped the team move up from the 3rd division to the 2nd division. She also participated in and won the Region indoor soccer tournament for women. Hedda also played for Ullensaker Kisa's U16 boys team and Ullensaker Kisa girls team from 2005 to 2012.

Personal: Full name is Hedda Smedheim Bjerklund. She is the daughter of Inge Bjerklund and Trude Smedheim. Hedda has two older sisters, Marte and Ida, and a younger brother, Herman. She is majoring in psychology. Her father, Inge, was a member of the Norwegian Youth National Soccer Team and the Lillestrom SK from 1984-86.
