Women's Hoops Rolls Over SF State, 91-42

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's basketball team cruised to a 91-42 exhibition win over San Francisco State Gators in front a crowd of 2119 on the third-annual Education Day.

Chelsea Lidy, GeAnna Luaulu-Summers, Callie Owens and Emily Simons each scored in double-figuers with Lidy posting 15, Luaulu-Summers 12, Owens 12, and Simons 10.

Every Tiger who dressed scored in the game. Eli Lopez Sagrera added eight points with four rebounds. Mauriana Clayton tallied six points with nine rebounds. Luaulu-Summers tallied seven steals with six rebounds.

Pacific shot 51.6 for the game (33-of-64), holding San Francisco State to 23.7 percent (14-of-59) and led by as many as 53. The Tigers forced 30 turnovers, and turned them into 34 points while outscoring the Gators 56-to-12 in the paint.

Lopez Sagrera opened the scoring for the Tigers and Pacific reeled off an 10-0 run for a 12-2. Pacific held the Gators without a field goal for the first 6:11. Simons' drove for a bucket and COwens hit a triple from the corner for a 19-4 lead. Jasmine Black hit a three for SF State as the Gators pulled within 21-8. Clayton added a lay-up as Pacific led 25-10 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Lopez Sagrera came away with a steal and a runout before Owens hit another three. Lidy finished in transition and then found Clayton inside for a bucket Pacific pushed the lead to 40-14. Jenelle Grant scored inside, while Black connected on a three for the Gators as Pacific led 48-22 at halftime.

The Tigers shot 52 percent in the first half (16-of-31), while holding the Gators to 30 percent (8-of-27). Pacific forced 17 turnovers leading to 17 points, and outscored the Gators 26-6 in the paint.

After a pair of free throws, Lopez Sagrera tallied the first field goal of the second half and Simons and Clayton each tallied lay-ins. Ameela Li scored in transition and Luaulu-Summers added a three for 68-29 lead after three quarters.

In the fourth, Simons added a pair of and-one's as part of a 14-0 Pacific run. Unique Coleman picked up a bucket inside and Tylah King added a three-pointer for an 89-37 lead, and the Tigers cruised home.

Black led the Gators with 12 points. 

Pacific will open the regular season on Friday at No. 9 UCLA in Pauley Pavilion. Tip-off is slated for approximately 8:45, following the conclusion of the Pacific men at UCLA, which tips at 6 p.m.
