Tigers Drop To Ninth On Day Two of Invitational

Stockton, Calif. - In the second day of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, the Tigers golf team dropped back a few spots in the standings, finishing the day sitting in ninth overall at +12 in the tournament.  Pacific was +10 today.

Geoff Fry's day saw him hit par on 16 of 18 holes.  Fry had a bogey on 11, then got back to even with a birdie on the final hole of the day.  That left Fry in a tie for fifth in the individual category at -3 overall, just one stroke back of third and three back of first.

James Feutz, who hit a 73 in day one, matched that mark exactly with another 73, good for +2.  He was also steady all day, hitting par 16 times.  Feutz bogeyed on seven and 11 to reach +2.  His +4 mark puts him in the top 40 overall, tied for 37th.

Casey Scott and Austin Fox were tied on the day as each shot 75s.  Scott, who shot a 74 in day one, stayed ahead of Fox in the overall standings as Fox had a 76 yesterday.  Scott sits in 53rd place as Fox sits in 62nd.

Today, Scott was tied with Anthony Madrid for Pacific's team birdie lead with two.  Scott had birdies on 14 and 18 but was hurt by a double bogey on 11.  Madrid, who shot a 77 today, had birdies on two and 14.

Fox also picked up a birdie in his round, coming on 16.  Unfortunately, Fox double-bogeyed the final hole of the day to drive his score to a +4 today.

For the individuals, it was Mateo Leon that had the best round as he shot a 74 today, ending in 43rd place.  Leon birdied on two, 14, and 16 in the strong round, though he ended one stroke worse than yesterday.

Jesper Kasanen and Julian Rippert remain tied in the individual standings as each has hit 76 in both of their rounds.  Today, Kasanen had birdies on four, six, and 12 before picking up four bogeys and a double bogey in his last six holes.  Rippert birdied on five and 16.

The final day of the Pacific Invitational comes tomorrow with one more round of golf beginning at 8:30 am.
