Berkeley, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team wrapped play at the Cal Nike Invitational Sunday with round-robin play.
In singles action, Maayan Sela went to a tie-breaker with Arizona State's Alex Osborne, but came up short at the end, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (8). Jessica fell to Fresno State's Abbey Watanabe, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play, Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz and Sabrina Rodriguez faced Ana Loaiza and Karina Vrylan of Sacramento State, but fell 8-2. Kaye & Sela teamed up against Cal's Alexis Nelson and Stephanie Lin, with the Cal duo posting an 8-1 win.
"It was a long weekend with a lot of tennis," head coach Tina Samara said. "I was really pleased with how we battled today and continued to do the right things regardless of outcome. Cris and Maayan were each two points away from winning their matches. If they continue to fight and work like they did today the wins will follow."
The Tigers will be back in action next weekend at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Moraga.
