Santa Barbara, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team defeated UC Santa Barbara 6-1 in dual match action on Sunday, Feb. 16. The Tigers improved to 4-2, while the Gauchos dropped to 1-6. Pacific Head Coach Charlotte Scatliffe is a UCSB alum and the Tigers saw action against her sister April in Sunday's match. 

"It's a great day to be a Tiger!" said Scatliffe. "I'm incredibly proud of our ladies. Once again we set weekend goals and we came away accomplishing both as the visiting team. UCSB is a great team with a lot of heart and fight. The Tigers did an excellent job of matching their spirit and battled hard. Although it was 6-1 we had four matches go into third set breakers. With this new change it can really go either way that is why we focus on a lot of 10 point breakers in practices and I think that was to our advantage today. We head back to Stockton feeling confident but ready to have a hard week of practice in preparation for San Jose State."

After Pacific earned the doubles point with wins in two of the three matches, the Tigers picked up victories in five of the six singles matchups. Cristiana Saenz de Buruaga, Christiana Ferrari, Gergana Boncheva, Iveta Masarova and Hana Ritterova all earned singles victories.

Pacific is next in action at San Jose State on Saturday, Feb. 22.
