WTEN Preview at UP/SU 2026

Tigers Head North as Regular Season Winds Down

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific women's tennis program has four matches remaining before the conference tournament begins and currently hold sixth place in the standings. Upcoming this week are two schools below the Tigers in the standings in Portland on Thursday at 10 a.m. and then Seattle on Saturday, also at 10 a.m.

Matches with the Portland Pilots (4-9, 1-3 WCC) have greatly favored Pacific (5-11, 1-2 WCC) as the Tigers have emerged victorious in four of the last five and is unbeaten in the last two trips to Portland. In the most recent road match in 2024, the team stormed back from a doubles deficit to claim the win. Juniors Milena Maiorova and Indiya McLeod were instrumental to that win with three-set victories on singles courts five and four respectively.

In her career, McLeod is undefeated against the Pilots going 2-0 and has been one of Pacific's most impactful student-athletes. The Australian has a 10-3 singles record this season split between courts one and two (3-0 on court one and 7-3 on court two), making her the first Tiger with ten singles wins since 2024. If she can win two of the final four matches, she will tie her career high 12 wins set during the 2024 season.

Prior to last weekend, the junior had won six straight on the doubles courts and still holds a 7-6 record. When paired with Maiorova, the duo is particularly dangerous holding a 3-1 record on court one.
In the standings, Portland checks in eighth entering the week and just a half game behind Pacific.

Moving over to Saturday's match, Pacific and Seattle (1-11, 0-2 WCC) are making only the second matchup in series history – a Tigers home win in 2018.

Crucial to getting the team off to strong start will be the play of graduate Cindy Ung and junior Leyanne Hirota on the doubles courts. The pair are 4-0 together this season in six appearances with the latter boasting a six-match winning streak in doubles.

In the standings, Seattle is the last place team in the WCC.

Neither match will be streamed this week, but live stats will be available for Saturday's match.
