WTEN Recap vs. Gonzaga 2026

Women’s Tennis Overcomes Early Deficit to Beat Gonzaga

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific trailed following the doubles point but bounced back with a dominant showing in the singles portion to claim its first WCC win of the season 4-2 over Gonzaga on Saturday morning at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.

The early hole the Tigers (5-10, 1-1 WCC) found themselves in came after losses on doubles courts one and three.

However, from that point the team proceeded to jump out to first set leads on five of the six singles courts. Sophomore Maggie Hoe appeared in her first action since early February on court five and cruised to a quick straight set win. Her triumph was followed shortly thereafter by junior Nahreen Cheam on court four – also clinching her match in straight sets.

The duo of junior Rayna Sugai and graduate Cindy Ung brought the match home for Pacific in tightly contested matches. The former was able to pull out a tiebreaker in the first set, followed with a back-and-forth win in set two for point number three. Ung took the opposite path and secured the match after winning a tiebreaker in the second set.

The Pacific win this morning gave the team a win over a top-100 ranked team in the UTR rankings and the third straight win over the Bulldogs (8-8, 0-3 WCC) in Stockton.

Up next the team rounds out a short three-match homestand against Washington State on Sunday at 11 a.m. The match will be streamed on Track Tennis.
