Box Score Moraga, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Lehigh on Friday, September 13. It was the Tigers' first match of the Saint Mary's College Classic. Pacific moved to 0-4-2 on the season, while Lehigh is now 1-2-1.
The Tigers fell behind 1-0 at the 5:45 mark of the first half, when Danielle Salans scored from 15 yards out to the upper left corner. It was just over the out-stretched arms of goalkeeper Tashia Long. Senior Maricela Padilla evened it up at 1-1 on a goal from five yards out off of a well placed cross from senior Brittni Beeman at the 16:49 mark. The Tigers outshot Lehigh 11-4 in the first half, while corners were tied at 1-1.
Pacific had complete control of possession until sophomore Nicole Penick was given a red card at the 53:54 point in the second half. From that point on, the Tigers had 10 players and played a bit more cautiously. Despite being down a player, the Tigers still held a 7-4 advantage in second half shots. Neither team scored the rest of the half, heading into overtime.
In the two overtime periods, the Tigers outshot Lehigh 4-3. Beeman had Pacific's best scoring opportunity in overtime, missing just off to the right at the 98:02 mark. Lehigh's Murphee Greeley floated in a shot at 104:37, but Long was able to keep the match going.
Pacific outshot Lehigh 22-11 for the match and 4-2 on corners. Long had three saves for the Tigers, while Ashley Blanks had eight saves for Lehigh.
The Tigers are next in action with an 11:00 a.m. match on Sunday, September 15 against New Mexico at the Saint Mary's College Classic.
