Game Notes

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific baseball team goes for a third-straight win Friday as UC Davis visits Klein Family Field to open a three-game Big West series at 6 p.m.

Game two is at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Tigers have won back-to-back games by tallying 12 runs with two outs in wins over Hawai'i on Sunday and Santa Clara on Tuesday. The Tigers picked up seven two-out hits Tuesday, including the ninth inning when six-straight Tigers reached base.

Pacific has been racking up runs in the ninth inning, with a four-run ninth leading to a 6-5 come-from-behind walk-off win over Hawai'i, and a five-run ninth inning at Santa Clara turned a two-run game into a 8-1 rout.

Senior Dustin Torchio is hitting .500 in his last eight games, 16-for-32, with a pair of doubles and three RBI. He's also walked once and been hit three times for a .556 on base percentage in that stretch. Torchio has hit safely in all eight of those games, with six multi-hit games in his last seven contests. Since sliding over from SS to the 3B position he'd manned in 2011 and 2012, Torchio is hitting .386 in 11 games.

Freshman OF/DH Gio Brusa is also hot at the plate, with a pair of home runs in the last three games. Brusa has a .444 on base percentage in his last 20 games and is hitting .338 (23-for-68) in that stretch. Ten different Tigers this season have homered, with Brusa, Jason Taasaas, Taylor Murphy and Brett Sullivan each hitting two to co-lead the team.

Pacific (12-31 overall, 4-14 Big West) will send LHP John Haberman to the mound in game one. He is 1-5 on the year with a 5.87 ERA. In 53.2 innings, Haberman has struck out 33 against 14 walks. Against Hawai'i last Friday, Haberman allowed two runs in 6.1 innings, but took a no decision despite striking out four.

The Aggies (16-30, 3-15 BWC) will start RHP Harry Stanwyck in game one. Stanwyck is 3-6 with a 5.29 ERA. In 66.1 innings of work, he's posted 32 strikeouts, but walked 26. In his last start, he gave up five earned in six innings against Cal State Northridge, taking the loss.

Pacific RHP Jake Jenkins gets the nod in game two on Saturday, the freshman is 0-7 with a 6.82 ERA on the season, but has a 3.93 ERA in his last three starts.

UC Davis will counter with RHP Spencer Koopmans, who is 1-6 with a 6.07 ERA in 56.1 innings of work.

On Sunday, UC Davis will start RHP Evan Wolf, who is 2-3 with a 4.58 ERA in 59 innings, while Pacific's starter is TBA.
