Biography

Junior (2013):
The Tigers'' primary catcher in 2013, Taasaas started 51 games while hitting .261. He finished with 47 hits in 180 at batsincluding tallying six doubles and two home runs. He tied for theteam lead with 20 walks while posting a .335 on-basepercentage. He recorded 11 multi-hit games including a 4-for-5effort at UC Riverside on April 13. He also posted five multi-RBIcontest with his best coming in a three RBI effort in the Tigers''11-4 win over Fresno State on Mar. 19. IN the game he went 2-for-3with a double and a run scored. Behind the plate he threw out 22would-be basestealers and picked off four more. In relief, Taasaasmade 10 appearances while posting a 2-0 record and a 2.81 ERA with14 strike outs in 16.0 innings pitched.

Sophomore(2012):
Started 34 games at catcher for Pacific, hitting .255 with a .346on-base percentage. Turned in eight multi-hit games including apair of three-hit contests. Scored 17 runs and drove in 12 on theseason, with a pair of doubles and a home run. Second on the teamwith five hit-by-pitch. Had a five-game hit streak from March 24 toApril 2. Went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI againstBrown (March 26). Drove in two with a 2-for-3 ballgame including ahome run against UC Irvine (March 31). Went 3-for-5 with two runsbatted in against Nevada (April 2). Collected three hits with apair of runs scored against San Jose State (April 7). Went 2-for-4with a double against Cal Poly (April 29). Drove in a run with asacrifice fly against Cal State Fullerton (May 4). Was injured on aplay at the plate on May 4 which cut short his season.

Freshman(2011):
Started 29 games at catcher for the Tigers and appeared in six moreas a freshman. Collected 14 hits in his final 54 at bats to finishwith a .205 average, with a double and a pair of home runs. Drovein 13 runs while scoring 10. Walked 12 times in 102 plateappearances for a .337 on base percentage. Picked up his firstcareer hit in his Pacific debut against Kansas State (Feb. 19),reaching base twice in three trips with a walk and a single.Tallied an RBI double against North Carolina State on Feb. 25.Posted a sacrifice bunt  and a sac fly for one RBI in theTigers’ win over No. 13 Cal on April 5. Had his best day as aTiger on April 23 at Cal State Northridge, collecting five hits insix at bats with four runs batted in, two runs scored and his firstcareer home run. Picked up his first career steal as part of aone-for-four night against Santa Clara (April 26). Posted a pair ofhits including his secord home run with two RBI against San JoseState (May 10). Walked twice and stole a base against Cal Poly onMay 20. Went two-for-three with an RBI in the Tigers rain-suspendedcontest with Seattle (started May 14, finished May 16).

High School:
A four-year varsity letterwinner at Franklin High School in ElkGrove, Calif., Taasaas was a two-time First Team All-Delta Valleyselection and a Second Team All-Metro award winner. As a junior, hehit .377 in 27 games with a .505 on-base percentage and .464slugging percentage for the Wildcats.  In the first game ofthe DVC playoffs, Taasaas tagged out the potential winning run in atie game to force extra innings and remained in the game despitecutting open his hand on the play. As a junior, he was asked torepresent Northern California as a part of the Area Code team inthe second Rawlings NorCal World Series. Taasaas graduated with a4.13 GPA and served as the athletics representative for studentgovernment as well as activities commissioner.

Jason James Taasaas… Son of David and Robin Taasaas…has younger brother Tyler… Currently an exploratory major,he intends to major in Business Finance.
