Napa, Calif.-The Tigers opened their first day at the Napa Collegiate Invitational with a great deal of success. New Tigers made their debut in singles as well as doubles. Sophomore Denis Stolyarov and freshman Sem Verbeek defeated the Oklahoma duo with confidence 8-1.
In the singles events, Pacific went 2-2. Freshman Sem Verbeek defeated Fresno State's Kartik in a three set battle while sophomore Alex Hamilton defeated Sam McNeil of Fresno in two sets 7-5, 6-2.
At the conclusion of the first day, Pacific Director or Tennis and Head Men's Tennis Coach Ryan Redondo stated, "I am happy to finally have our players compete in the first sanctioned events of the year. We have three first year players competing in Napa and they are competing hard. I am happy for Alex Hamilton and Sem Verbeek in starting the year with victories. Alex Golding and Daniel Alameh will both have to compete well as the All-American Championships are in Tulsa are filled with some of the best players in the country."
