Stanford, Calif. - Taking on the Bradley Braves for the second time on Saturday, February 18, the Pacific softball team could not repeat its feat from earlier in the day as the Tigers fell 5-3 to the Braves to end the day at the Nike Invitational.  The loss dropped the Tigers to 2-4 on the year while the Braves improved to 4-5 on the year.  Pacific dropped into the consolation game of the invitational on Sunday, February 19, where it will face Nevada at 12:30 pm to end the tournament.

With a chance to play in the championship game of the Nike Invitational on the line against the Braves, the Tigers could never find their rhythm at the plate nor in the field as they suffered their second loss of the tournament.  Heading into the field to begin the game, the Tigers gave up a quick two runs in the top half of the first inning.  A near miss of a double play in the inning proved costly as the Braves used back-to-back doubles by the middle of the order to take the early lead.

Down two, the Tigers immediately responded in the bottom half of the inning as Pacific took advantage of a defensive mistake to start the inning to post its first run of the game.  Senior Nicole Matson picked up the RBI for the Tigers with a cued shot to second base that scored junior Megan Hom from third after the centerfield reached on an error and moved into scoring positon on a wild pitch and ground ball.

An inning later, the Tigers took the lead from the Braves with a pair of runs as once again, Pacific took advantage of poor defensive play by Bradley to do their damage.  Gifted a pair of runners, the top of the order came through for the Tigers as Hom and sophomore Megan Foglesong each drove in runs in the inning.

Despite the lead, Pacific was unable to hold back the Braves' attack as Bradley tallied 10 hits in the contest and finally broke through against the Tigers in the top of the sixth inning with three runs that would prove to be the game winners.  With the bases loaded on the help of a Tiger error, Mariah Cole, who had a pair of hits in the early addition of the two teams playing, tripled to right field to plate all three of her teammates and give the Braves the lead.  The Tigers would be unable to respond in the final two innings of action as Pacific put a pair of runners in both the sixth and seventh innings of action, but came up empty.

In the circle, junior Nikki Armagost suffered her second loss of the year as she went six innings and gave up 10 hits and five runs, two earned.  In relief, freshman Dani Bonnet threw one complete inning, striking out the side for the Tigers in her first appearance against a non top-15 team.
