Tigers Make Coach Proud At ITA Northwest Regional

Moraga, Calif.-In the Round of 64 the Tigers rounded up all of their doubles matches going 3-0 in the events.  Sophomore Ben Mirkin and freshman Trevor James partnered up for a shut-out victory against the Washington duo.  Though in the doubles round of 32, the Tigers came up short, however prepared to face their respective opponents in the singles events.

In the Men's Singles Round of 32 both senior Alex Golding and sophomore Ben Mirkin pushed through the round each earning victories in straight sets.  Golding also defeated the No.4 seed in his heated match.

The second singles consolation round also produced two victories for the Tigers.  Freshman Sem Verbeek defeated Dragos Puscalau in straight sets.  Sophomore Erik Cederwall his opponent, the No. 17 seed Michael Hukwo of Portland, in straight sets.

At the conclusion of the second day of match play, Director of Tennis and Head Men's Tennis Coach, Ryan Redondo reflected, "Today was a much more positive day for the Tigers.  Alex Golding started it off with a big upset over No.4 seed Martin Botsch of university of Washington to move into the round of 16 of the main draw.  We came out in doubles as well with three straight wins over Portland, Washington, and USF before falling to Stanford and CAL.  We also won a handful of consolation matches and will look to continue the momentum into tomorrow."
