Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - Playing at home for the first time in three games, the Pacific soccer team let No. 29 UCF slip out of town with a 1-0 victory on Friday, September 5. Despite outshooting the Knights 17-3 on the night, the Tigers fell to 2-3-0 on the year while the Knights improved to 3-1-0.

From start to finish, the Tigers dominated play on their home field of Stagg Memorial Stadium, playing passes through the middle of the field and out wide at will to set up their offense. With the ball moving freely for Pacific, the Tigers took a season-high 17 shots on the night, firing 10 on goal. In the first half alone, Pacific held a 10-2 advantage in the shot department while posting a 7-1 advantage in the final 45 minutes.

However, despite the total control over the game, the only shot that mattered for the Knights came in the 31st minute of play when Becca Thomas slotted home a penalty kick after the Tigers committed a foul in their own box. Taking just three shots on the night, the Knights made their only goal stick with a stellar performance in goal from Aline Reis as the freshman 'keeper produced 10 saves to pick up the win.

Senior Laura King (Livermore, Calif.) continued to propel Pacific's offense firing off seven shots to lead the Tigers with five going on goal. King set the Tigers up to score on multiple occasions, flinging flip-throws into UCF's box, only to see her teammates shots go slightly off the mark throughout the second half.

Pacific will be back in action on Friday, September 12 as the Tigers take on Hawai'i in their first game of the Pacific Invitational. The Tigers host USF, Tennessee-Martin and Hawai'i over the two day tournament.
