Seattle, Wash. - The Pacific men's tennis team fell to the No. 28 Washington Huskies on Mar. 9 by a score of 7-0 at Bill Quillian Stadium in Seattle, Wash. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 4-5 on the season, while the Huskies improved their overall record to 10-4 with the win.
In the contest, Washington earned the doubles point by winning all three matches. Patrick Fischer and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan defeated Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) and David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) at the No. 1 position, Andy Kuharszky and Derek Drabble defeated Artem Gramma (Krivoj Roj, Ukraine) and Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceicao,Brazil) at the No. 2 spot, and Martin Kildahl and Tobi Obenaus defeated Vegerd Veskimagi (Saku, Estonia) and Pedro Toledo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) at the No. 3 position.
The Tigers were also swept in singles play as the Huskies were awarded every singles point as well. Gramma was the Tigers' best chance at a point in his match against Kuharszky at the No. 3 position, but he was able to force action to a third set as he lost 7-5, 7-6(5). David Gonzalez was also handed his first loss of the season as he fell to No. 82 Nedunchezhiyan at the No. 2 spot 6-3, 6-1.
The Tigers will return to action on Mar. 12 when they will face Texas-San Antonio at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif. Matches will start at 1:00 p.m.
