Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific men's tennis team improved their overall record to 6-7 on the season on Mar. 17, when they defeated Georgia Southern by a score of 6-1 and then came back to take down Marquette University by a score of 4-3 at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif.
In their first victory of the day, the Tigers took all but one of seven team points as they won two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles contests. Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) and Artem Gramma (Krivoj Rog, Ukraine) earned the Tigers first victory of the day at the No. 1 doubles spot, while David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and Vegerd Veskimagi (Saka, Estonia) sealed the Tigers second win on the afternoon at the No. 2 doubles position. Starke, Gramma, Gonzalez, Veskimagi, and Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceicao, Brazil) each won their singles matches in the win.
The Tigers victory against Marquette did not come as easy however. After being swept in doubles competition to open the match, the Tigers were forced to win four of the six singles matches in order to earn their second victory of the day and their sixth of the season. Coming up with victories in the match were Starke, Gramma, Delsin, and Veskimagi. Starke earned his win at the No. 1 spot, Gramma earned his win at the No. 3 spot, Delsin won at the No. 4 position, and Veskimagi won at the No. 5 position.
