Pacific split a pair of games at Cal State Fullerton's Judi Garman Classic on Saturday, March 17th. The Tigers defeated Notre Dame 8-0, and fell to No. 12 Washington, 9-0 in consolation bracket play as part of. The Tigers are now 16-10 on the season. Notre Dame is now 9-12, while the Huskies improved to 19-7.
The Tigers broke through for a pair of runs in the third inning. Senior Lizzie Hagen (Anaheim, Calif.) got aboard on a fielder's choice with two outs. Senior Jennifer Curtier (Lancaster, Calif.) followed with a single to move Hagen to second. Hagen would come around to score on sophomore Lauren Weyman's (Carlsbad, Calif.) bad hop single up the middle. Curtier would score the second run on junior Alyce Jorgensen's (Los Altos, Calif.) single.
Pacific broke the game open with six runs in the fourth inning. Senior Gina Carbonatto (Lake Stevens, Wash.) had an RBI single up the middle to score the third run. Curtier followed with a single up the middle to score two more runs. Weyman added another RBI single and sophomore Briana Santos ripped a two-run double to Santos to finish off the scoring.
Sophomore Chelsea Engle (Folsom, Calif.) earned the win for the Tigers, pitching shutout ball for five innings and allowing just two hits. She improved to 7-6 on the season.
In the first game of the day, the Huskies scored three runs in the second inning, three runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the sixth inning. In the circle, Caitlin Noble improved to 8-3 on the season, limiting the Tigers to just one hit. Pacific junior Alyce Jorgensen (Los Altos, Calif.) took the loss for the Tigers (5-2), giving up seven runs on nine hits in four innings.
Senior Jennifer Curtier (Lancaster, Calif.) had a double for the Tigers' lone hit.
The Tigers will be in action again on Thursday, March 22nd as they take on Saint Mary's at Moraga.
