The Tigers jumped out in front of the Mustangs in the first inning, denting the plate with a single run to take the early lead. Freshman Casey Goldsand (Scottsdale, Ariz.) took an 0-1 pitch into right field to get things started and then stole second with two outs to get herself into scoring position. The extra base proved useful as junior Jennifer Curtier (Lancaster, Calif.) drove a double into the left-center gap, driving home Goldsand.

Two innings later, the Tigers posted another run, taking advantage of their speed to post a single run in the third. Senior Brittany Hyams (Huntington Beach, Calif.), playing in her final game for the Tigers, singled down the left field line on the first pitch of the inning. From there, Hyams swiped second and third to set the Tigers up for anther score. Wasting no time, freshman Lauren Weyman (Carlsbad, Calif.) dropped down a perfect squeeze bunt, allowing Hyams to score with ease from third.

With a two run lead, the momentum of the game shifted away from the Tigers as for the second straight game, back-to-back errors to start the fourth inning cost Pacific two runs. Taking advantage of the two defensive miscues, Chelsea Green singled up the middle, plating both runs for the Mustangs.

After the fireworks of the fourth, the game settled, as both starting pitchers set down their opposition in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings. In the ninth, the Tigers found themselves on the wrong side of a lost popup as Chelsea Green opened the inning by reaching base as Goldsand lost sight of the ball in the sun on the popup. Green would come around to score on a slow ground ball to second base by Teressa Miller.

In the circle for the Tigers, freshman Chelsea Engle (Folsom, Calif.) threw all nine innings for Pacific, giving up just six hits and three runs, only one of which was earned. The loss dropped Engle to 7-7 on the season. For the Mustangs, Robyn Kontra threw seven innings, giving up two runs and six hits. Jenna Maiden came in the game in relief in the eighth inning and picked up her ninth win of the season as she did not give u pa hit in 2.0 inning pitched.
