Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific softball team dropped their third straight game to Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, April 23, falling 10-0 in six innings. With the loss the Tigers fell to 24-18 overall and 5-4 in conference action while the Titans improved to 28-19 overall and 9-3 in the Big West.
For the third consecutive game, Titans' starting pitcher Marissa Marzan, quieted the Tigers' bats to pick up her third win of the series. The difference today was she did so in a perfect way, retiring all 18 Tiger hitters she faced. In 6.0 perfect innings, Marzan struck out five while only allowing two balls to leave the infield; the first two Tigers flew out to left field.
In addition to a perfect pitching performance, the Titans' bats continued their power display, hitting four home runs on the day to push their series total to nine. On the day, all eight runs for the Titans' came by way of the home run as Cal State Fullerton hit four two run home runs in the contest.
In the circle for the Tigers, freshman Briana Santos (Garden Grove, Calif.) picked up the loss to fall to 9-5 on the season. Santos relinquished two hits and three runs in 2.0 innings pitched before coming out of the game.
The Tigers will next be in action on Saturday, April 29 as they travel to Long Beach State to take on the 49ers in a Big West Conference doubleheader. The first game is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
