Stockton, Calif. -
Kristen Allen scored Gina Carbonatto in the bottom of the seventh inning to break 2-2 ballgame and lift the Tigers over the Colorado State Rams in the first game of Pacific's March 15th doubleheader.
The Tigers struck early on in game one, as junior Gina Carbonatto (Lake Stevens, Wash.) started off the game singling up the middle. She proceeded to steal second and third base and was driven home on when Jennifer Curtier (Lancaster, Calif.) singled down the right field line.
The Tigers added to their lead in the third inning as Curtier homered to left field; her second RBI of the game expanded the Tigers lead to 2-0.
Colorado State evened up the score in the top of the fifth when Tara Harbert reached base on a fielders choice and advanced to second as Jessica Strickland singled to right field. Sophomore Lauren Cusick tied the game with a double to right center, scoring both Harbart from second and Strickland from first.
Pacific threatened in the bottom of seventh as Carbonatto singled through the right side and stole second a batter later. Junior Lizzie Hagen (Anaheim, Calif.) then hit a sacrifice fly to deep right field, moving Carbonatto to third. Colorado State proceeded to intentionally walk Curtier for the second time in the game. Kristen Allen (Citrus Heights, Calif.), Pacific's RBI leader, ended the game with a single up the middle that scored Carbonatto from third.
Pitcher Briana Santos was credited with the win, going the complete game for her fifth victory of the season.
The win gives the Tigers an 11-9 record on the season and drops the Rams to 15-8.
