Long Beach, Calif. - The Pacific women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Long Beach State on Saturday, Oct. 14.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 6-12 on the season and 3-3 in the Big West Conference, while Long Beach State moved to 14-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Game scores for the match were: 30-13, 30-19, and 30-20.
Trailing 5-4 in the first game, the Tigers found themselves on the wrong side of an 15-1 run as Long Beach State bolted ahead 20-5. The 49ers went on to take game one, 30-13.
The 49ers momentum from game one continued into the second game as Long Beach State opened an early 9-3 lead and cruised to a 30-19 win. The 49ers out hit Pacific .351 to .071 in game two as the Tigers finished the second game with 10 kills and seven errors on 38 swings.
Following the break, the Tigers returned to the court with more energy, but the 49ers simply proved too powerful at home, taking game three, 30-20.
Pacific was out hit by Long Beach State .393 to .101 in the match.
Junior Johanna Hilbers (Omaha, Neb.) led the Tigers with 11 kills in the match, while sophomore Alexa Anderson (Los Gatos, Calif.) finished with a team-high 10 digs.
Long Beach State's Quincy Verdin led all attackers with 12 kills, while Dyanne Lawlor and Alexis Crimes had 11 kills.
Pacific will be back in action when the Tigers return to the Alex G. Spanos Center on Oct. 19 as the Tigers host No. 20 Cal Poly at 7 p.m.
