EL PASO, Texas – The Pacific women's volleyball team found it tough sledding on the offensive half of the court in a three-set loss (25-17, 25-21, 25-20) to UC San Diego Sunday morning from UTEP's Memorial Gym.
Sophomore
Olga Gergacz received her heaviest workload of the season and produced a career best eight kills on 14 swings for an efficient .429 clip (8-2-14). The sophomore was active defensively, getting in on two block assists and flirted with her first career double-double by adding eight digs. She was complimented by freshman
Vanessa Zussino, who matcher her career best eight kills while also producing her most efficient stat line of the season (8-2-20).
Continuing the trend of season high workloads, junior
Gwen Hansen played a season high three sets and produced 12 assists, trailing only fellow junior
Alessia Couchond in the category who led the team at 17. The junior setter also tallied her third double-double of the season of 17 assists-12 digs.
Sophomore
Bella Gutierrez tied for a match high 13 digs.
Despite the loss, the Tigers (4-5) put forth its best defensive effort of the weekend, holding UC San Diego (3-6) to a .196 clip hitting and only conceded one service ace, a season best for the Pacific reception. Freshman
Ellie Prindl totaled four total blocks, tallying four block assists.
Pacific has one more non-conference tournament, traveling to Pocatello, Idaho to face Idaho State, Wyoming, and Boise State in the Idaho State Tournament from Thursday to Saturday.
