STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific beach volleyball team concludes the regular season on the road, facing off against nationally ranked California and Stanford on Saturday, April 22, at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.
Alexa Edwards and Megan Nishimura, making their season debuts for the Tigers (0-18) last weekend, battled against UC Davis and Santa Clara in the home finale. The duo nearly recovered after dropping the first set against the Aggies, winning the second set but came up short in a 21-12, 19-21, 15-7 decision. The pairing later grabbed 33 games in the second match against the Broncos but fell just short of a victory at the fifth flight.
California enters the week ranked ninth in the most recent AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll, a position the team has held since March 21. The Golden Bears (23-6) have tallied 20 wins for the second straight season and are on pace for their best finish since going 24-8 in 2018.
Stanford, the third top-10 team the Tigers have faced this season, comes in at #10 in the poll. The Cardinal (23-10) have won three of their last four dual matches and are coming off a 4-1 win over #7 Grand Canyon.
Since 2013, the Tigers have defeated the Golden Bears five times in 10 dual matches while earning three over the Cardinal in eight attempts.
