SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Pacific beach volleyball team closed out the Mid-Season Invitational Sunday afternoon, falling to Portland, 3-2, and San Francisco, 4-1, at the San Cruz Main Beach.

"Not the results we wanted today, but we're earning points, and the pairings are finding a system that works for them," Interim Beach Volleyball Coach Carl Wheeler said. "We had some close sets, but  unfortunately, we didn't have the best day offensively."

Camdyn Albrecht and Jillian Rodig continued their dominance for the Tigers (0-12) as the duo collected two wins throughout the afternoon, pushing their winning streak to three. In the first dual match against the Pilots (5-8), Albrecht and Rodig earned a 21-18, 19-21, 15-13 three-set victory over Grace Zilbert and Brodie Baker at the third flight.

The pairing followed with another three-set victory against the Dons (1-16) later in the afternoon, defeating Francesca Stanschus and Rainie Stevens, 17-21, 30-28, 15-12, in comeback fashion.

"Cam [Albrecht] and Jill [Rodig] pulled out three great wins this weekend," Wheeler continued. "They outworked their opponents by staying focused and finding solutions in the middle of matches."

Hania Taduran and Jenny Todd, the other pairing to earn a win, pulled out a dominating 21-12, 21-10 straight sets victory of the Pilots' Alina Valenti and Annika Stammberger at the first flight. The win marked the second time the duo collected a dual match win this season.

Pacific returns to action at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, as it takes on Delta in an exhibition match at the Raney Sand Volleyball Courts.
