STANFORD, Calif. – The Pacific women's track & field team participated in the Cardinal Classic Saturday afternoon at Cobb Track and Angell Field.
Multiple team members performed well in the long-distance races led by
Alyssa Hershey's 24th-place finish in the 1500 meters. Coming up just three seconds short of breaking her personal best time of 4:45:98, Hershey completed the race with a time of 4:48.57.
Earning her third-highest finish in the 5000 meters this season,
Sophie Pazzo completed the race in 18th place with a time of 18:48.02.
Anaya Shelton once again shined in the short-distance races, setting new personal bests in the 100 and 200 meters. Breaking her best time in the 100 meters by 27 tenths of a second set at the West Coast Twilight earlier this season, Shelton secured a new time of 13.20.
Adding to her achievements, Shelton set a new personal best time of 27.54 in the 200 meters, breaking her previous best of 27.70.
Leilani Rios nearly tallied a new career-high in the discus throw, recording a throw of 29.52 meters. Rios set her previous best of 31.02 meters at the West Coast Twilight two weeks ago.
Pacific returns to action on Thursday, March 30, competing in the Mike Fanelli Invitational at San Francisco State.
