PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Pacific men's golf team sits in sixth place after shooting a 7-over-par 291 and two-under-par 282 in the first two rounds of the Grand Canyon Invitational Monday afternoon at Grand Canyon Golf Course.
After posting a first-round 7-over-par 29, the Tigers bounced back in windy conditions, making 12 birdies throughout their next nine holes as a team. The team held on as conditions became tougher, posting a two-under-par 282 that saw them improve eight spots on the team leaderboard, ending the day in sixth out of a field of 16.
Griffin Long leads the way in a tie for ninth at three-under-par after back-to-back under-par rounds.
"The idea was to limit the big numbers," Head Coach John Cook said after the second round. "We had a couple of those still, but hopefully, we can eliminate some tomorrow and keep climbing up the leaderboard."
Pacific tees off the second round of the Grand Canyon Invitational at 7:45 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Mar. 14, as the Tigers look to continue their momentum.
