Silva Clinches Match for Tigers Over Stetson

Box Score Deland, FL.-  The Pacific men's tennis team (3-7) came out victorious over Stetson (9-5) in a match that came down to the last singles point, winning 4-3.

Pacific started slow in doubles, dropping the sets on court #3 and court #1, with court #2 being unfinished.

When the Tigers entered the singles competition, their momentum shifted. On court #1, junior Peter Alam defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-1. On court #2, junior Ran Amar also picked up a singles point for Pacific, winning his match 6-4, 6-2. After dropping singles points on courts #6 and #5, on court #3, redshirt freshman Terence Das picked up the third singles win, evening the contest with Stetson. The match point came down to court #4, and freshman Tiago Silva did not disappoint. After winning his first set 6-1, he dropped the second 6-1 but clinched his set and the match point with a 6-3 victory.

"After a slow start in doubles today, our guys came out tough and were resilient in singles, winning four out of six courts," said Head Coach Robin Goodman. "We played as a team until the very last point. To see our January freshman handle the last match on with composure was an impressive demonstration of his maturity," Goodman said.

Pacific will remain on the east coast as they take on North Florida on Tuesday, March 14, with the first serve at 2 p.m.
