Box Score 2 BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The #11 Pacific women's water polo team (8-3) went 1-1 on its first day of competition at the Indiana Classic.
The Tigers took on the Wagner Seahawks (12-3) and fell 22-17 for their first game of the day but came back in a big way with a 15-5 win over the Salem Tigers (2-4).
Freshman Dora Alaksza and sophomore Hila Futorian were both forces to be reckoned with in the water for Pacific, each scoring eight goals on the day. Alaksza scored six, and Futorian scored five in the game against the Seahawks.
Graduate student Brianna Utas found the back of the net four times for Pacific, twice in each game. Sophomore Addison McGowan scored three times.
Freshman Alicia Petkov and junior Annikah Lillie each dented the twine twice in the Salem game. Graduate student Lucy Davis, freshman Noemi Alaksza and sophomore Szamira Koppány each tallied one for Pacific.
On Sunday, Pacific takes on the tournament's host, #12 Indiana (10-4) and Occidental (0-3), ranked #10 in Division III. The Tigers are 3-3 against the Hoosiers, last facing the Midwest team in 2020. Against the Occidental Tigers, Pacific has a 4-1 record, including a 15-8 victory the last time the two teams met in 2012.
