DAVIS, Calif. – The #11 Pacific women's water polo team (7-2) finished the Aggie Invite 3-1 after defeating La Verne (1-5) 16-6 and falling to #1 Stanford (8-0) 19-7 on Sunday.

Graduate student Brianna Utas lead the Tigers with four goals, three in the game against La Verne. Utas scored on an assist from freshman Dora Alaksza only 16 seconds into the La Verne matchup, and she scored Pacific's first goal in the Stanford game, assisted by graduate student Lucy Davis.

Pacific capitalized on its powerplays in both games, going 2-6 against La Verne and 5-11 against Stanford. Against the Leopards, the Tigers went up 10-1 before the other big cats scored their second goal.

Sophomore Szamira Koppány, sophomore Ilyana Zlobinsky and Dora each scored three goals on day two of the Aggie Invite. Dora's three goals all came in the game against Stanford.

Junior Annikah Lillie, junior June Akpata, Davis, sophomore Hila Futorian and sophomore Lucia Sarimsakci each found the back of the net twice for the Tigers. Sophomore Addison McGowan dented the twine once for Pacific.

Dora, Lillie, Davis and Koppány each assisted on two Tiger goals, while McGowan, Zlobinsky, Akpata and Futorian were each credited with one assist.

The Tigers shined on defense. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Clara Vulpisi had six steals to keep the ball in the hands of Pacific, followed by McGowan and freshman Noemi Alaksza who each stole the ball three times. Dora, Lillie, Zlobinksy, Akpata, Davis and Utas each stole the ball from their opponents once to return possession to the Tigers. McGowan, Utas, Zlobinsky, Davis and Sarimsakci each drew an exclusion for the team.

In game one against La Verne, Vulpisi had seven saves and a .700 save percentage in her 16 minutes. Junior Isabelle Knittle played the other 16 minutes and blocked four shots from the Leopards for a .571 save percentage. Vulpisi had four saves and four of her six steals in the game against the Cardinal.

The Tigers travel to Indiana next weekend for another four-game tournament. They'll face #13 Wagner and Salem on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 8:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., respectively. Pacific then takes on #12 Indiana and Occidental on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 6:15 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.
