STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's tennis team (1–1) takes its week one success on a Pac-12 road trip, facing #22 Cal on Thursday, Feb 2 and Oregon on Sunday, Feb 5.
The Tigers opened the season with a dominant 6-1 win over UC San Diego at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. After a quick road trip north to Sacramento State, the Tigers face their toughest test yet in #22 Cal.
Junior
Ran Amar has already won at the Hellman Tennis Complex, taking home the singles title of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships hosted by Cal last October. Amar, ranked #120 in singles by the ITA, is 1-1 to start the year.
Freshman
Tiago Silva is undefeated in singles to start the season, picking up a 6-3, 6-0 win over UC San Diego and a 6-3, 6-4 at Sacramento State.
The Tigers will see a familiar face against Cal, as senior Philip Hjorth played his first two seasons at Pacific (2018-20) before transferring to Cal. The Bears have picked up wins over Saint Mary's and Stanford at home and a 4-1 win over Florida Atlantic at the ITA Kickoff Weekend hosted in Austin, Texas.
Oregon has started the season 3-1, taking 6-1 and 7-0 wins over Utah State and UC Riverside before heading to the ITA Kickoff Weekend, this time hosted in Columbus, Ohio. The Ducks defeated Tulsa in a narrow 4-3 decision before dropping 4-0 to the host, #2 Ohio State.
