ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Pacific men's and women's swim teams opened their second day of the Utah Tech Invite carrying the momentum in from Thursday night's day of bests. Multiple Tigers returned for Friday night's finals across five events, scoring major points for Pacific and collecting more NIC cuts.

Kicking off the day was
Noemi Melendez in the women's 100 butterfly, clocking a 56.55.
Mitchell Hopper,
Aidan Vollmar and
Kyle Capili started the day on the men's side in the 100 butterfly, with Hopper and Vollmar finishing in the top-eight with a 48.77 and 49.16. Capili and
Leland Baltazar came in just behind with a 50.50 and 50.02 respectively, each earning a new best time.

The women had eight swimmers in the 400 IM, with
Jordyn Gonzales finishing with a 4:38.08 to lead all Tigers.
Annelise Thomas (4:39.97),
Kelly Kermoian (4:39.84),
Ellie Macphail (4:41.51) and
Emma Hooper (4:42.48) round out the remaining Tiger finishes in the 400 medley prelim.

Jacob Sotelo and
Aidan Vulgas moved on to the finals after clocking a 4:22.72 and 4:17.57 respectively in the men's 400 medley.

Alexia Ferguson recorded a 1:52.65 in the 200 free prelims, which was good for a top-eight finish, while
Dylan Parente and
Gabe Windmiller clocked a 1:40.94 and 1:44.82 in the men's 200 free.

Paige Sondgeroth moved to a 1:05.05 in Friday's 100 breaststroke prelim, while
Ethan Cole earned a 56.13 for a top-five time in the men's 100 breaststroke prelim.

Capping the morning off was the 100 backstroke, with
Diana Chan building off her seeded time after moving to a 57.19 finish. Thomas also improved, following right behind Chan with a  57.47.

The prelims ended with two top-eight finishes from
Leland Baltazar and
Alex Kurotori in the men's 100 back, with Baltazar earning the 49.76 finish and Kurotori right behind at 49.87.
Aidan Scott clocked a 50.97 for a new best.Â

Moving into Friday night's final, the Tigers earned five NIC cuts, including a NIC A cut. The women started the evening off with the 200 medley relay, finishing with a 1:45.04. The men earned a second place finish clocking a 1:29.57 and a lead off 50 backstroke NIC A cut for Baltazar. The relay earned its own NIC cut as well.

Following with the 100 fly, Hopper earned a 2nd place finish and a NIC B cut after finishing with a 47.70. Vollmar also earned a NIC B cut after finishing 5th in the A final, clocking a 48.60.

Kermoian got to the wall first in the 400 IM C final, moving to a 4:25.92 after this morning's prelim. Thomas finished right behind for a 2nd place finish in the C final after earning a new best with a 4:32.18 mark. Gonzales earned the eighth place finish in the B-final for another scoring opportunity for the Tigers.

Both Sotelo and Vulgas earned scores for the Tigers, improving to 4:21.01 and 4:14.59 respectively in the 400 IM B-final.Â

Ferguson took eighth in the A-final in the women's 200 free, while Parente earned the first place finish in the men's B-final with a 1:40.29. Windmiller took fifth in the B-final after a 1:45.05 mark.Â

Sondgeroth took first in Friday's B-final in the 100 breaststroke, moving to a 1:03.94 after this morning's prelim. Cole took fourth in the 100 breaststroke A-final, earning a new best time with a 55.90.

Thomas took third in the 100 back B-final enroute to a new best with a 56.69, while Chan moved to a 56.96 to build off this morning's finish to take fourth in the B-final. In the men's 100 back, Baltazar collected a NIC B cut after taking fourth in the A-final with a new best 49 flat. Kurotori took eighth with a 49.97.

To close out the night, the women took off for the 800 free relay, clocking a 7:46.84. The men earned a third place finish in the 800 free relay, coming in at 6:40.92 to end day two on a high for the Tigers.
