Diving, Relays Highlight Opening Day at MPSF Championships

PHARR, Texas – The Pacific men's and women's swimming and diving program got underway on Wednesday with the 2026 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium.

After one day's worth of events, the Tigers competed in the one-meter dive and relay finals of the 200 yard medley and 800 freestyle variety.

Junior Lexxi Chavez opened up the competition as the lone diver for Pacific, earning 13 points from her six dives, but did not qualify for the finals.

For the relay events, Pacific's A team in the men's 200 yard medley relay collected a four-place finish with a time of 1:27.41, led by the close-out performance of sophomore Nate Rasmussen to secure 30 points to their team total. The Tigers on the women's side earned an eighth-place nod in the 200 yard medley relay, garnering 44 team points.

In the 800 yard freestyle relay, the Pacific men seized a fifth-place finish for 28 team points while the women notched eighth place, which collected 44 team points.

With the men's performances in the relays, the Tigers have achieved two CSCAA automatic National Invitational Championship time standards.
