DAVIS, Calif.- The Pacific men's tennis team capped off a strong weekend showing at the Aggie Invitational with a singles final victory for sophomore
Tiago Silva. The Tigers collected 14 wins over the duration of the three-day tournament and continue their upwards momentum through their fall season.
On the first day of the tournament, the Tigers went 7-1 on the day, including a perfect 4-0 in men's doubles. Duo redshirt sophomore
Terence Das and junior
Justas Trainauskas took on Pierre Lieutaud and Liam Carpenter of Saint Mary's at the start of the day, where they defeated the Gaels tandem 8-6. Das and Trainaukas returned later that morning to take on Giovanni Branchetti and Davide Cortmiglia of San Francisco. The Tiger duo swiftly handled the Dons 8-2.
Sophomores
Riley Hillenbrand and
Tiago Silva found similar success together. They took down Santa Clara's Arjun Honnappa and Alexander Watanabe Eriksson 8

5. The Tiger tandem later dealt defeat to Saint Mary's duo Felipe Rincon and Max Fardanesh 8-2.
Success carried into the singles matches for the Tigers, starting with Hillenbrand downing Saint Mary's Sumi Srivastava 6-4, 6-3. Silva battled San Francisco's Paul Theate and came away with the 6-0, 5-7, 6-2 victory, while Trainauskas also took down a Gael, defeating Rincon 6-1, 6-2.
The following day, Silva continued his run in the singles matches, swiftly handling UC Davis' Ryan Torres 6-2, 6-3 to advance to Sunday's semi-final. Das collected two wins for himself, taking care of two Broncos, Honnappa by 1-6, 6-0, 10-6 and Lukas Maskow 6-3, 6-2.
On Sunday morning, the Tigers earned two more wins in doubles. Hillenbrand and Silva defeated Nevada's Remy Tregoure and Gregoire Valente 8
7, 7
5, while Das and Trainauskas handled California's John Kim and Alexander Aney 8-6.
Silva quickly moved through his semi-final match against UC Davis' Antreas Djakouris, taking care of the Aggie 6-2, 6-3. He later faced another Aggie, Constantinos Djakouris in the final. In an action packed first set, Silva emerged with the 7
7-6
1 victory. The energy carried into the second set for the Tiger, where Silva claimed a 6-1 victory en route to the finals win.
Das also earned two singles wins on the final day of the invitational. He took down Nevada's Tregoure 6-3, 6-0 to start the day. The Tiger later earned the 6-3, 6-3 win over Sacramento State's Adam Chodur.
"It was another successful tournament for these guys," head coach
Robin Goodman had to say after the weekend, "It's great to see the team picking up this many wins at these fall events. It was a particularly impressive performance from Tiago, winning the whole tournament in his first fall as a Tiger."
